How comfortable is the following metal sofabed?

http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/6353751/Trail/searchtext%3ESOFA+BED.htm

I saw this and though it would be good for the office (for guests) and for me to sit on as I spend quite a lot of time in this room. Is it comfortable to sleep on (im imagining feeling the steel bars through the mattress? and is it stable? ie if my friends decide to test ;) it out ;) will it collapse on em?

I've got one in the kids t.v. room. it's comfy to sit on (with cushions at the ends to cover the arms) not great to sleep on but much better with another duvet laid on the mattress. definitely won't collapse quite substantial.

thanks!. Is it a wire mesh back or just wire bars (again wondering how well it would do for sleeping, and is it the same / better/ worse than say the fold up beds you can get? Suppose i should just order it and see just wondering if the alternatives (wooden etc) would be better.

  • If its only for occasional use it will be dead on.

It its going to be regularly used it is VERY uncomfertable.

i slept on a sofa bed for 2 years, i just used it as my bed. it was fine, nice heavy matteress that i got with it soaked up the frame.
but i am a bit tight, i gave it to someone else when offered a freebie base and matteress.
just a note, it was bowed wooden slats on mine but very similar.

It's bars, about 4inches apart, the mattress can't slip through them! I'll echo paddymcc, i wouldn't want to sleep on it for more than a night or two. but it's great for my purpose. definitely better than the fold up beds I've got a top of the range one of those as well!!

  • Good solid sofabed, but we found it uncomfortable to sleep on until we used an airbed with it. We stuck this under the mattress and it was fine. good VFM.
