I currently have SC Clearance for my employment, I sought a new role however they needed my clearance elevated to DV Clearance, following Vetting Officer interviews and multiple documents submitted, I am British have no criminal convictions or financial difficulties. Unfortunately after 9 months they came back today and stated it has been refused, without any reason. I have been told I cannot appeal this decision, surely there must be a process of appeal ?.

It's a very indepth check which covers a broad range of subjects.

Also, if I had to hazard a guess, "Kam" who has posted his picture on a public forum, asking about how to appeal Developed Vetting may give a fairly strong indication of why you might have failed DV and why they may deem you a security risk. I have been able to find you online in seconds, publicly viewable social media profiles, your post demonstrates a naivety that would be regarded as a huge security hole and to me it would make sense why you have failed DV, you may even find you are required to attend an interview to maintain SC.5 -
Thankyou for your reply, just to note I have held SC Clearance for many years, and upon my renewal for 10yrs, they mentioned social media profiles are not a problem, it's what group you have joined and if you have political views. Just to also add I had an interview for the new SC Clearance when it lapsed, he did state no findings of people can raise a flag in terms of not being able to profile someone. I have a Latvian partner, a place in Spain so what. The Vetting Officer mentioned your SC CLEARANCE would not be affected and it's the client who made the decision not UKSV. Anyway I have colleagues who find DV a ball ache and doesn't guarantee anything in terms of higher rates or better roles, only if your current employer needs you to be DV, and working across industries SC gives me more flexibility and it's their loss LOL 😆0

Just to close this out, so nobody jumps to conclusions or think they no more than the Vetting Officer, please see below:Hi XXXXXX,As I said, with this customer, we receive no feedback. As you still hold SC, carry on as you are. This does not prevent you from applying for DV positions in the future.Regards,Mike

Interestingly yesterday, I was head hunted via LinkedIn (Social Media), to work back within Policing. I mentioned I had been refused DV Clearance, they mentioned its overkill for what we want as my SC Clearance will be suffice as I won't need to handle or process TS on a regular basis.
Happy Days, thankyou fellow MSE members for your "positive" support. One door closes, another opens x

while not DV - it does
there is an NHS employer which refuses to entertain me even starting training with them due to unspecificed ' Safer recruitment checks ' issues from something which happend 15 years ago has no impact on my DBS and was never referred to Safeguarding or the Police.
Yet a number of other NHS organisations doing the same thing have absolutely no issue with me working for them and even after an adverse incident with one which resulted in my 'failing' my probation due to their inability to provide necessary(re)training and support in a timely manner , their parting line was ' we'd love for you to reapply next time we open recruitment' and i've bumped into a number of former Colleagues and Managers around and about the place and they are all 'you are going to try and come back aren't you ? "
I get the impression that SC is something you 'pass' and then you get and keep unless you !!!!!! it all up but DV is much more dependent on the employer / agency and the role

Yes Enpointe,
It's all smoke and mirrors and clearances have proved quite ridiculous when people in certain roles have abused their position of authority, and the long wait in getting cleared provides no guarantees. Agree it is dependant on the employer/agency and with big brother always watching you whilst holding DV, is it worth it as it seems like I have an easier life now, holding SC and being smart about it !0
