Have begun process for defaulting on credit cards….

Hi,
I am 2 months into the process of ignoring and not paying CC payments with the idea of defaulting and then going in to DMP. However, my husband has now been diagnosed with stage iv lymphoma and we have just been told that our tenancy will end at the end of the year. I am worried that going down this route to manage our debt is now going to jeopardise our chances of getting a new rental property. Does anyone have any advice please? Thank you

Sorry to hear about the situation. Is your husband going to be able to work?
Estate agents can only see insolvency records and CCJs. They may ask for bank records, but the more likely option is employment records.
Would it be worth asking the LL if they would accept an early surrender if you found alternative accommodation? If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing1 -
That's a good point. You can dig your heels in and slow the eviction process down if you are in private rented accom. However, you will eventually have to leave. It may be better to find somewhere else sooner rather than later.
The debts are clearly not your main issue but some will show as defaults on your credit file in a few months1 -
Thanks for this. No my husband is of retirement age so he doesn’t work. That’s good information. Thank you ever so much0
