One4All card - any good as a gift?

A relative has recently bought a house and we wanted to send a gift card. Her mother suggested a One4All card, which I'd never heard of. You can buy them on Amazon and send it digitally via email, so that would be very quick and easy. On the reviews though some people were saying that the cards can't be used at most of the retailers that the One4All website says you can, which has made me doubtful.

I'd prefer to send a John Lewis gift card but having asked my relative what her daughter would like I don't want to do something else unless I have a good reason. Does anyone have any experience of buying/using them?

    Cash, Cash, Cash.
They can then spend it where they want, when they want.

My nieces (in their 20s) like them and I've sent them All4One cards on several occasions.  You can buy the cards at the post office too.  Lots and lots of choice as to where you can spend them.

Someone gave my child one as a present and we used it for argos online.
Gift cards generally are annoying though as they limit the options for spending.
I would much rather give or receive cash.

cash…. Or if you really want something separate, Amazon gift cards are a pretty good proxy for cash

I hate one4all cards, they are so difficult to spend! and you have to use the exact mount or slightly less to be able to use them online so you inevitably lose money. They also take an annual 'charge' ie the value becomes less over time. That's if you can find a retailer who accepts them in the first place.  A huge scam. Agree cash is better, or Amazon or John Lewis gift card would be fine.
