hi all can someone advise me
i emptied a small dc fund last may and paid too much tax and due a refund
also claiming carers allowance which has now stoped and declaired, i am now due a refund on my tax i called hmrc and they said i have to wait till the new tax year
can anyone confirm this can i not claim it back now, i am not working or claiming any benefits, is it worth calling hmrc back and doing it over the phone which they advised said it will be quicker, or will it be quicker filling in a p800 or do i really have to wait for the new tax year
thanks in advance

A P800 isn't something you can fill in, it's the tax calculation letter HMRC issue showing how your tax liability/refund has been calculated for a particular tax year.
There is a form you can complete if you want to but that isn't actually necessary, HMRC will automatically refund any overpaid tax in the next few months. Or you could ring them and see if it can be issued from a phone call.
I'm assuming you mean you have declared the Carers Allowance to HMRC.1 -
i though the carers allowance would automatically be declaired but i had to do it myself thats the reason i left it so late, untill i checked my record and yes the carers allowance is now showing up on my record as "other earnings" and correct amount earned is now showing0
