Amazon says Free Delivery but charge added

Can anyone tell me why on 3 items where it seems to say Free Delivery on each one and they amount to over £38 I've got a £4.99 delivery charge?
I can't find out which one it is.
What do I have to look for or how?
It's been a long time since I purchased on their site because of this but to get 2 of the items means a 55mile round trip to the shops that stock them.
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

I'm guessing that it's probably because the items qualify for free Standard Delivery but you selected One-day / Premium delivery instead ?
You would probably have been given different delivery options at checkout time, some of which would be free and some chargeable if uou are not an Amazon Prime subscriber

Premium delivery is usually the pre selected option. If using a mobile device these options are often hard to see.0

OK......so maybe I should have checked Free Delivery on each of the items I selected?I tried it for one, the heavy one but that made no difference.Defo not with Prime.Declined Prime option.Clicked on Tuesday 1 Apr FREE Standard DeliveryBut it says in a box
we're giving you a 30-day free trial of Prime! Get FREE Premium Delivery on this order

Now I don't know if they are shoving me into a Prime trial or not.The next option isn't to see a straighforward basket - but payment. It's a blooming nightmare of not being clear.

IIRC, even with free delivery it still shows a fee then is taken off as a discount before the total is given2.22kWp Solar PV system installed Oct 2010, Fronius IG20 Inverter, south facing (-5 deg), 30 degree pitch, no shadingEverything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endMFW #4 OPs: 2018 £866.89, 2019 £1322.33, 2020 £1337.07

Another tip Saver, gee there's a lot of hurdles to go through. Thanks for the info.I've had to stop ordering today as I have an injury that's been playing up and by tonight don't feel like going through all this. Thanks Jackie but no the delivery charge remains despite almost everything - wiping out the order and starting again with cookies deleted and following the information people have given is probably necessary.Frankly thinking that I may order directly from Wickes seems delivery is cheaper and quicker!
