Hi,
Looking for some advice please I'm going to apply for a mortgage in the next two years. On my current account there is some gambling transactions but I've stopped that now for a while. However I think there would be a possibility through OpenBanking down the line when I apply for a mortgage these would flag up but wouldn't on a new account. Am I better staying as is and hoping these don't affect my application or going with a new current account which won't have any of these transactions.
Thanks

With open banking they ask which accounts you want to share and the dates. GDPR stipulates companies can only hold information they need, so unless there is a reason, they would never be able to obtain anything without your consent.
Although to be honest, open banking has really not taken off. Since its launch, we have only used it twice... Its easier for us to just get the 3 months statements - we need them anyway so to then ask the customer to also do open banking seems a bit of a faff for them.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it.
