Hello all.  Ive today come across this online company called ZENCO About Us - Zenco Legal who offer to do your Lasting Power of Attorney for £99 per document and check it for you to ensure its legal. The website states it only takes 15 minutes to complete. Now i took it that this was a complicated document, so this has put me on edge. Has anyone here used Zenco and could offer their findings/experience with them please?

“The Office of the Public Guardian charge a registration fee that ranges from £0 to £82 for each Lasting Powers of Attorney.  This is not included in our cost.”

It is simple enough if your affairs are straightforwards to do the power-of-attorney yourself online, just for the cost of the registration fee. So what you are effectively paying Zenco for is double checking the forms that you have completed to make sure they are dated and signed correctly.

Which is simple enough to do yourself, unless you like having that reassurance of someone else looking it over as well.

if you have complex affairs, for example a relative set up a power-of-attorney for keeping his business going, I would do that through a solicitor anyway.

But with powers of attorney, the maxim  is less is more so as to avoid unintended complications. So if you’re happy to leave it with a bare minimum in which is what most people do, there’s nothing complicated about them. You are asking your attorney to be someone you know and trust and who you can talk to about what you would want to happen if you lost capacity.  Which is why you don’t need a lot of complicated instructions.

If you don’t trust them to carry out your wishes you shouldn’t be appointing them in the first place.

All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

Also subsequently they will probably bombard you with offers about will writing, setting up trusts etc.

Best just to do it yourself online and get a friend or family member to help if necessary.

Any reason you can't do it for yourself - have you actually looked at what is involved?

In the past, setting up one of the POA versions was quite legalistic in wording and understanding.   However, the LPOA application has been changed to plainer language and is very simple to set up without the need for third parties.

Although Zenco Legal were nominally founded in 2014, prior to 2019 they were known as DAVITCO BUSINESS SOLUTIONS LIMITED
In 2022 (check the filing history link on that page) Zen Social Ltd was registered as a Person with Significant Control.
Zen Social Ltd were incorporated in 2021, and in 2024 changed their name to Zenco Social Ltd. - see

Too many recent changes for me to consider them, and I am personally wary of a good review from someone with only the single posting.

Especially one resurrecting a post from several months ago.

Does a new poster just turned and of all the searches, they could carry out, think “I know I’ll start checking for threads mentioning Zenco? “

Forms are simple to fill out, but the order is complex. The solution is to get all the various people to fill out their sections  and sign but not date.

Then add the same date for everyone....

This applies for health and financial poas

I don't think that is correct. Parent made a minor mistake on one page of hers and her option was to lose the page with the error (which was a continuation page with one instruction) or redo it and resubmit paying a second fee,

The OPG site also says "If you make a mistake on your form
Depending on the type of mistake, OPG may let you correct it and apply again within 3 months for £41."
