Hi, does anyone know what happens when your child turns 12 with regards to NI credits? I need 9 years to complete my NI record & my son turns 12 halfway through the 9th year. Does that count as a full year of class 3 credits or just a partial year? I’m trying to decide whether or not to pay the shortfall for a partial year before 6th April. Thanks!

Section 23A provides for persons reaching State Pension age on or after 6 April 2010 to be awarded a Class 3 National Insurance credit for each week falling after that date in respect of which they are a relevant carer.......A person is a relevant carer in respect of any week in which they are awarded Child Benefit (ChB) in respect of a child under the age of 12
