Hello,
My employer currently provides us with boilersuit, bib and brace trousers and trousers and jackets.
They are changing to high Vis yellow colour and only offering boilersuits and bib and brace.
I work mostly inside, and prefer trousers only as it quite hot and I can't wear 2 layers of clothes. I also find the bib and brace really uncomfortable due to the straps.
Can I provide my own trousers/ top as long as they are high Vis compliant?
Any views on this predicament?

You would need to ask your employer if there is alternative PPE that meets the requirements.
Things that are differerent: draw & drawer, brought & bought, loose & lose, dose & does, payed & paid1 -
Their manufacturer makes the trousers, they have just decided to not offer them to us0

If you have a genuine reason, as opposed to a preference, they may be supportive.Things that are differerent: draw & drawer, brought & bought, loose & lose, dose & does, payed & paid0

What does the PPE protect against? What risk assessment has been satisfied by providing the PPE? It's not likely to be just about being dayglo.
If there is potential for spills or contamination does it require 2 layers to fully protect you and not wearing 2 layers may expose you?
If the RA requires 2 layers as mitigation against a hazard and you then decide not to wear the second layer then you will likely be in contravention of the documented and required safe system of work.
If there are options you may be able to explore some choices but I wouldn't expect there is any obligation to meet personal preference. You may wish to read and decide for yourself: ppe.htm

Some of our staff buy or alter their hi-vis vests, we like those with pockets, but people have bought different coloured ones, but probably got told to wear the yellow ones.0
