Local Gov - pay discrepancy

I work in local gov and get paid 4-weekly - so 13x pay cycles over the year.

Due my final pay tomorrow for the year and I checked my pay slip and I’m trying to work out if there’s a reason there would be difference between my salary, and the gross pay that I’ve received over the course of the year.

The latter (gross pay received) is £168.52 less than salary figure.

I checked my equivalent final pay slip of 23/24 and there was a similar gap. £171.83

Are those figures the discrepancy for the month or the full year?

    Because 13 x 4 weeks isnt a full year.

You arent being paid a full year across 13 pay periods. You are being paid 28 days in each one.

Is your annual salary around the £61k mark?

    That makes sense as 13* 28 = 364 days.

So if that’s the case then the salary basically sets an hourly rate which is applied to payroll cycles but the actually gross salary paid will always be short of my contracted salary figure. That about right?

Exactly, but you arent being diddled, you are being paid the correct amount per day, its just split over a bizarre pay arrangement (every four weeks isnt that common, its usually monthly or weekly). When you leave employment it will be worked out to the day you leave.
