Mortimer Clarke chasing after many years

Many years ago ( about 2007 ) I got into trouble with a Marbles credit card and ended up with a Ccj ( I think this was between me and HFC - who owned Marbles ) for about 8k ( no judgement please I was in a terrible place ).
As I was in a terrible place ( drowning in debt with an alcoholic husband who drank most of our money ) it got to the ccj point. I responded to the paperwork and made an offer of a small amount each month towards the debt but they did not respond they went straight for a charging order against our house and I don’t think I made any payments ( or at least only a few - can’t remember )
as the house is jointly owned with my husband I know it’s not a charging order but a restriction and when the house is sold ( either if we downsize or upon our deaths ) it will be dealt with at that point.

In the last few weeks they have started harassing me ( multiple calls every day ) and they sent a letter saying they would accept about 2.5k in settlement but I would still owe the rest of the money
where do I go with this and thanks in advance for your help.

Well that doesn't make sense, are they offering you a settlement or not?
To say you would still owe the balance is ridicules, who would make a deal based on that?
Honestly, as its simply a restriction, they can`t do anything with this, as the CCJ ran out of steam decades ago.
I would just ignore them, block their calls, letters make excellent recycle bin fodder apparently.
They are hoping you will crack under pressure, as far as I can see, they can`t bring any pressure to bare.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Thanks for the reply. I’ve just dug out the second letter they sent me earlier this month ( I had forgotten this letter) where they asked me to set up a payment plan.I notice the current creditor is MCE Portfolio Ltd and the original creditor as HFC ( as I said ).Does that make a difference to them chasing me?0

It doesn't matter who is contacting you the answer is just the same, do as sourcrates said block all their numbers, just look at any letters they send, if you are not happy with anything they say in a letter come back for advice. If you go down to the woods today you better not go alone.0

In these situations there is nothing they can do, as the CCJ is now unenforceable, and the charge is just a restriction, legally, its not going anywhere, but they don`t want you to know that.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. After my posts last week I blocked the different numbers they called on after not answering. However I seem to get a message left everyday on my voicemail and just now I got a message from a 0345 number and it was them . How to proceed ? Continue ignoring or shall I send a cease and desist letter ?0

I’ve blocked every number that they’ve called me on but every day in my voicemail box there is a voicemail from them. It’s incessant0
