Ice Tea at Lidl

We have cut out alcohol and our new vice is going to be iced tea. Just wondered if there was any cheaper than the 75p cartons from Lidl.

  • litre of water, 3 teabags, some sugar and 1/2 a lemon, bring to the heat and simmer for 10 mins (No longer as it can taste bitter). Add another litre of cold water (more or less depending on strength) adjust sugar and lemon to taste and away you go. Very nice!

Can I use any teabags? Not sure what the ones at home are. Might give this a go at the weekend to see what it's like.

Do I leave the teabags in the whole time it's simmering away to itself?

  • i use whatever teabags i have about! yep leave to simmer (although I'm inclined to turn the heat off after 5 mins and then leave it for 5 mins.Best to experiment its such a cheap amd easy thing to make,BTW its best kept in a dark container in the fridge - as the tanin in tea can stain the bottle a bitNice with a bit of lime too/instead!.
