Our GP tries to do monthly prescriptions with the comments about it cutting down on waste if your prescription changes etc but generally will see sense after sufficient nagging and pointing out it hasn't changed in 20 years and then will issue 3 months supply at a time.

It was particularly pertinent to my ombudsman complaint because they were making mistakes in about 50% of the requests raised which is much more problematic when they ignore requests submitted more than 10 days before they're due, you're having to make 12+ requests a year and its a medicine that no pharmacy holds stock of (and is susceptible to being out of stock too)

    HRT I get 12 weekly

Stomach and nerve pain meds (not painkillers) get 8 weekly

Codeine painkillers monthly - the latter I think can only be every 4 weeks
