LGPS ill heath retirement

In November 2022 I was successful in getting my LGPS at Tier 1 due to ill health.
At the same time, I applied for my pension from my previous employer which was also LGPS.
Unfortunately, they turned me down fully.
I was really shocked, however, I was just too poorly to even be able to fight.
I am no better and never will be, but I would really appreciate my second LGPS pension. It’s not a high value but it would help me. I am now 53.
Unfortunately, they turned me down fully.

Obviously I will have to reapply, and no doubt appeal. Would anyone have any insight into the rules or tips you could share? Thanks

Where are @Silvertabby and @Lemon_dr1zzle when you need them... hopefully along soon as this board's LGPS experts.RaspberrySundae said:In November 2022 I was successful in getting my LGPS at Tier 1 due to ill health. At the same time, I applied for my pension from my previous employer which was also LGPS.

Your previous employer's Occ Health Dr would have assessed your application for these benefits based on the requirements of your deferred post, which may not be the same as your Tier 1 post. Was this more physical than your deferred post? Even if the two posts were broadly similar, Ill Health assessments aren't an exact science and the final result reflects the Drs opinion. Do you know why the Dr refused your application?RaspberrySundae said:In November 2022 I was successful in getting my LGPS at Tier 1 due to ill health. At the same time, I applied for my pension from my previous employer which was also LGPS.

You are entitled to appeal the decision, and/or re-apply at any time.0 -
They simply made a decision from paper. The reason given was that as it was a desk job, I should be able to carry it out with adjustments. That job was much more physical than the other. I will reapply again and appeal if needed.
