Hello again, it's dull and damp here this morning, similar to yesterday.
I feel a bit dull myself, I'll have to pull myself together.
Yesterday was ok, nothing spectacular happened. Went to the supermarket for milk and spuds and a few other bits.
Funny, I used to eat any old bread, wasn't fussy about it at all, but now I am. I've become a bit of a bread diva, trying various breads, I like one for a bit then go off it. Strange.
Don't know what's happening today, nothing much probably, it'll be the usual household jobs. While I'm not 'houseproud' I like to keep the place fairly tidy. TA, I hate cleaning windows as well ! It's an awful job.
Nanny hope you and yours are all right, haven't heard from you for a while.
Thinking of our poorly and sad people, take care folks.13 -
Morning All
Thanks for the start Scarlet, I'm the same with the house.
Damp and dreary again today, yesterday wasn't too bad for my drive to Perth and back, just one really heavy shower and even a little bit of sunshine. Had a good time with DS1, partner and the DGC, we went out for a very nice lunch locally (well, fairly local to them as they live in the middle of nowhere!).
I have seeds to sow today and a cold frame to put together so that should keep me busy, may also have a nanna nap as I woke up just after 5. I'll also have a walk down to get some shopping if it's not too wet, called at Sainsbobs yesterday but their prices were eyewatering!
Hope everyone is well and you have a good Sunday. Take care. XX10 -
Morning allSitting here with breakfast watching the F1. Not mad on motor racing but it's live sport early in the morning!Today's chores are watering seeds in the plastic greenhouse, hanging some bedding on the upstairs airer as it looks quite dull and damp out there. Curry and yellow stickered Indian starter selection from the freezer to go with it.Apart from that a quiet day.Hope everyone has a peaceful one x13

Morning Scarlet and all who follow. Thanks for starting us.
Very dull outside but the forecast is cloudy but dry. Yesterday the rain started early evening and finished around 8.30, not that I was checking as I was busy playing the 1% club, although DH beat me.
My BFs husband returned home from hospital last night so I'll give her a call soon to see how he is.
Weenancy, it has hit us hard as in our minds we're still young marrieds having our budget dinner parties and planning our holidays together, not the pensioners we now are.
Izzy I'm so sorry I didn't thank you for talking me through how to make pease pudding. I've put split peas on my shopping list, and I've got gammon stock in the freezer from last time we had it. Will report back.
Not sure what's for dinner, there's pork chops in the freezer, so maybe mash and veg. Don't want to put the oven on just for roasties.
Have a good day all, thinking of Nan, hope your ok. Take care all.

Morning folks and thanks SCARLET. It's miserable here too. Yesterday the sun made a few attempts to get through but it didn't happen. Then out of nowhere we had a really heavy downpour late afternoon. We are paying the price for the one lovely day we had last week! I had a rubbish night (nowt new there!) and it's left me feeling half doped. Same old story, worrying about stuff I can't change.
The shopping got done yesterday but not so the windows! Youngest DGD rang to see if she could come up for the afternoon so that put paid to the window cleaning! I got caught up on all her news. I don't see nearly enough of them these days. Middle DGD is busy away at the museum coffee shop. It started off just a Sunday job but she has been doing Saturday afternoons and even the odd couple of hours after school. We are hoping it doesn't interfere with school work as she is now in her 0 level year.
I have the bedding in to wash and I think it's on its last spin. It definitely won't be getting hung outside! I have yet to remake the bed but as I am back to my favourite bedding this time making it up again might perk me up! I have yet to christen my lunch so a freezer dive is on the cards next. The messer upper has been at it again so a sort out is needed first.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for our poorlies, sad or lonely. Take care all, stay safe xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"13 -
Morning all - thanks for starting us off @Scarlet. I hope that the dullness soon leaves you, I think (at least for me) it's a winter hangover.I was MIA yesterday. Late on Friday night I decided to drive down to Glasgow to hand over the return order to JL as there wasn't a post option. I left at 7a.m., the road down was practically empty so I made really good time to Wrose. Handed over the parcel, did a very small shop, had a flat white in the cafe and was home by a bit short of 12 noon. There was widespread fog and light rain all the way down and then bright and dry coming home. One of my nephews who lives overseas rang me last night, I got really annoyed as he was blind drunk and talking nonsense again. I told him to ring when he's sober and making sense. Then his brother in the UK rang me to say that he too had had a drunken call which he also hates.
The call made me stew for a while until I fell asleep.
Today I have to pop out at some point to support friends doing a sponsored swim then I think I'll make up a batch of mince / bolognaise ragu.Well, it's the fifth anniversary of the first COVID lockdown. I remember it clearly as there had been some remedial work going on in my DMum's dining room which needed the floorboards lifted so the room was in disarray. The joiner told us the day before that he'd been told about the imminent announcement - I didn't believe him - so two of them came on 23rd to finish relaying the laminate. They did it before we were hit by the news. What a dreadful time we all had.I hope that everyone is doing well, take care all. Hugs.

Morning everyone grey and damp here Scarlet I love nice bread but I’ve stopped eating it these last few months or at least I’m trying not to because every time I have some I’ve got terrible heartburn for he rest of the day same as pastries gone are the days when I could eat anything and everything but then again I’ve always had good skin but now I get dry patches all over I’ve had a one on my leg for weeks that’s just cleared up I don’t think my body has got the memo I’m not getting any older it’s doing what it wants . I don’t know what we are going to be up to today I’ve got my last little joint of beef in the oven from Xmas it’s from the local butcher’s I save with them all year round and get a good selection of meat I just choose what I want and I must say it’s all been delicious and you don’t miss the few pounds every week. Gers I hated the lockdown lots of people were saying to me well we had good weather and we were off work I didn’t feel like that at all I thought it was a terrifying time and remember them showing on the news pictures from all over the world and all the streets of big cities empty it was heartbreaking what happened and I hope nobody ever has to live like that again the little boy next door to me at the time was only 3 and he never left the garden and he used to shout over the fence to me bless him . I must crack on hubby is still on his best behaviour after I sat him down and gave him what for I mean explained calmly what I wasn’t putting up with anymore the worm has turned now he is wanting to have a look out somewhere so I’m off to get ready. Thinking of all the poorlies hugs to those that need them have a good day everyone whatever you are doing12

Re the lockdown, I remember walking out of the prison after we prepared the Library for shutting down not knowing for how long and walking out and feeling for all the people we were leaving to cope with all the prisoners and hoping they all stayed safe. An awful time for all of us and it's something we'll never forget and hope it never, ever happens again x9

Morning all, thanks for the start @Scarlet. The rain arrived here yesterday afternoon and doesn't seem to want to leave any time soon. It was still raining when I got up for a loo break at 3 am.
Today we're being treated to yet more rain and I doubt we'll get any sun, although the thick cloud may thin out to light cloud later in the day. It's feeling fairly mild so that's something to be thankful for, I suppose.
I still have the shopping bags to finish off as I got side tracked sorting out the sewing notions; a few bits were binned and everything I kept is now all in the new sewing box. No more hunting around for what I need. The paint samples are on the wall for me to live with for a few days before I finally make up my mind which one I'll go with. They're all in the cream colour palette - the "proper" cream looks on the yellow side, two are more like an off-white and cold looking but the other two look more promising with a warmer tone.
Since I don't have anywhere to be and there's nothing in particular that needs doing, it's looking like it's going to be a lazy one for me today. I can live with that!Tea is cottage pie, mushy peas and pickled red cabbage and I'll put the BM on in a mo.
@remmie - Fingers crossed your BF has good news when you speak to her, a worrying time for all concerned.
Onwards and upwards folks, try to dodge the raindrops if you're out and about. Take care. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.11 -
Morning all...it's grey and wet ish, but not too bad. To be honest, I'd be fine with it persisting down, my hay needs wetting
No plans today, there's some house stuff to do, I'm waiting on a delivery of a deep sided frame so I can stick all the stuff in it from the wedding last year and then that'll be out of the way. There's a cupboard to take off the wall, a butchers trolley to empty, I've let another three saucepans go [ I have bought one in though, stainless, very pretty] , the little chest freezer to move and various general things. A couple of little trees to chop down. And a tip run to book.
Re the lockdowns, I really felt for the ones having a carp time and the ones who lost people in awful circumstances, my cousin lost her mum during that time, not covid, dementia but she couldn't see her or visit her and I think that led to her rapid decline, she had nohing to keep her grounded anymore. Personally though, I got to spend at least a year with my OH, he'd just been made redundant, so we cracked on redoing the garden, making outside sitting places so people could visit and not get wet.. And it was silent. And the wildlife loved it too.Izzy, so you had a gentle hat with him then?Same with the bread, so I've just ordered some very expensive ones that I love from a local bakery to try instead of prepackaged stuff. Fingers crossed it's ok...Yorkslass , happy new sewing box day
Gers, it is really annoying isn't it>? OH had a drunken video call from someone we used ot work with years ago, no idea what prompted that. Nanny, you about? Take care al, it's a weird one...
