Relocating England to Scotland

So we have finally decided to take the plunge and make our dream a reality… moving from south west England to the Inverness area of Scotland.
our house is currently on the market but not yet had an offer so we won’t be making any offers on Scottish properties until we have a solid offer and sale underway as we know things move a bit quicker up that way.
We will need to apply for for a mortgage.. I am fully remote so my job is fine and will be coming with me. My husband however is a HGV driver and plans to stay with his mum in the week and fly from Bristol (not too far from where we live) to Inverness a couple times a month to spend time with us. Happy to do this for as long as it takes to find something suitable for him closer to our new home. We are looking to borrow well below (£70k-£100k less) than the calculators say we could and will be putting down a 15% deposit. Are there lenders out there who would consider this arrangement? Or will my husband need to quit this job and find a new one there before applying? HGV jobs are pretty abundant but he’d rather keep this one.
Due to past defaults (over 6 years ago so none on credit file) I would probably need to avoid Halifax, HSBC and Barclays as I’m sure they probably keep their own internal records that will flag up. All were paid back in full and final settlements but I think still best to avoid these lenders.
I have had a mortgage with Nationwide in the past and their rates look good for long term fixes so could be a good option if they will accept the living arrangements!
