No CCA request responses for 6 months

Options
How long roughly does it take for DCAs to respond?

As background, I sent several off 6 months ago and apart from the initial holding response to say they were looking into it I’ve heard nothing. Well apart from when I got one response to incorrectly say it wasn’t applicable as the debt related to an overdraft. The debt was actually a loan.

Of the CCA’s that I sent out, two of the defaults have dropped off my credit file, one falls off next week and another at the end of next month.

I am moving house next week and part of me thinks I should keep them updated with my address change, but that could re-set the clock of them becoming statue barred back to 6 years. The other part of me thinks, don’t bother as they’ll have all fallen off your credit file in the next month anyway. Seems risky though. I think I am going to give them my updated address.

Why not do a post redirection if you think they will write to you, then you will get any letters but if any don't reply they won't know your new address.
If you go down to the woods today you better not go alone.

The ones I requested took about 3 months in general. I agree about setting up a redirection.

When did you last make a payment to these debts? That is what matters, not whether they are on your credit record or not.
  • Last payments were September 2024, just before I sent the CCA requests.

You are under no obligation to pay until they come up with a CCA so do the redirection and sit tight. Continue to build your settlement fund and do not contact them - the ball is firmly in their court.

The problem is that it costs money to redirect post so people dont normally want to do it for a long while. There is no simple way around this, you can tell them your new address which risks acknowledging the debt, you can direct the post and incur costs, or you can take a risk and do nothing and risk ending up with a CCJ as the court papers went to the old address. This is such a very long way from being statute-barred that it may be best to tell them the new address.

Simply ring them and update your address.

Acknowledgment of a debt must be in writing or by payment, you can`t be held liable for the spoken word.

    Brilliant! I will do this!

I do plan on re-directing my post but wasn’t planning on doing it for another 5.5years.
