Laptop under £300?

Is it possible to find a new laptop under £300? I need a computer for my OU course, doesn't need bells & whistles, but does need to be reliable. The software needs windows XP. the terms of the grant are that it must be new, not reconditioned.
Other than course stuff I'd mostly be using it for online browsing & emails.

Asda have an Acer instore for £299, previously £349 (I think).
It runs on Vista basic i'm afraid.
i've seen some Dell laptops still running XP.

Always try the Techie board for stuff like this. There is a thread running about this Dell. Still under £300.0
