Why must the solar gateway be sited near the meter ?

    Having said the above, I would have been much more impressed with this installer if the first surveyor had been fully clued-up, rather than just insisting "the gateway must go alongside the meter".
    I've realised that less than 200m from me are 2 homes with in-roof installations, I think I'll knock on their doors to ask who installed them !  It can't hurt to have a choice of installers !

    That response from the installer and 69bertie does make a lot of sense.
    That cable ought to have protection. The DNO fuse really is not adequate as they have no knowledge of whether the fuse characteristics are adequate for the cable installed and the environment it is installed in.
    Well advised by the installer to just fit a secondary and appropriate fuse!
