PRA Group Settlement

I have a debt (£4688) that's been bought by PRA and they have sent me all my account details.
I have sent the a full budget of my income/outgoings and shown them I'm left with minimal at the end of the month.
I have made them a settlement offer of £1000. My stepfather died and left me this money.
They have countered and said that they will accept £2344 which I don't have.
What are my options now?
Can I counter offer if I can get more funds from a family member?
Should I offer to pay the £1k and then £5 a month until it's clear?

PRA aren't the easiest DCA with whom to work. Assuming you know that this a fairly recent debt to which you've been paying in the last 6 years, pay them a fiver.
In future, don't share SOAs with DCA if possible. Meantime, put the £1k in a short notice account (28 days?) and keep adding what ever you can when you can.
They'll probably come back sometime with better offer. If you are haggling next time offer £600 and be prepared to double it if they push, but not in one go.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing1 -
I agree. If it's not statute barred or near being statute barred, pay £5 and try again in 6 months.
Do a cca request if relevant1 -
Thanks guys. They've sent me all the correct paperwork RAS said:PRA aren't the easiest DCA with whom to work. Assuming you know that this a fairly recent debt to which you've been paying in the last 6 years, pay them a fiver.

They have sent me all the correct details regarding my account so no need for a CCA request.
Thanks for your help0 -
Yep. They'll come back with another offer sometime. And you should have a little more saved up.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing1

Have they actually sent you the CCA (consumer credit agreement)? If not then request that, if they can't provide it then they can't enfore the debt and they can simply stop paying. These sorts of companies often have a very casual relationship with the truth, so make sure you actually have the CCA from them and not an application form or some other document they are trying to pass off as the CCA.0

OK, I wasn't sure from what you were saying. Just pay the £5, keep saving if you can and try again at some point later on.

Just send the payment. You've already told them that's all you can afford so they would not get more by starting a court claim.
£5 a month for 1000 months. They will get fed up with it eventually.1 -
Thanks all. Much appreciated0
