Perfectly all right if
o you put them on the top shelf (warmest area of fridge and same temp as ship storage )
o they are green and you want to let them sit longer to ripen than storing elsewhere
o you just want them to keep longer
o you don’t mind the outside getting a bit brown sometimes

The top shelf shouldn't be a noticeably different temperature from the bottom - that sounds like your fridge isn't working properly.0

The experts say there is typically a 1-2 deg deg from top to bottom shelf and 2-3 deg difference with the door which is why bananas are fine on the very top shelf as are other things like beer , fizz, wine etc ( if you don’t want it a bit cooler ) dairy eg. Really shouldn’t be kept on the top shelf1

I put my bananas in the fridge too as I don’t like very ripe bananas and this way they stay as I like them for longer - even if the skin goes a bit brown.0
