Is anyone aware if there are charities involved in writing off debt in the UK, in the way Martin Sheen helped the people of Port Talbot over the last 2 years? Looking for specific charity / charities to make contact with.

In what way? Do you have a significant sum of money you wish to distribute to people in debt, via a charitable organisation?1

Are you seeking to pay off the debts of others? Or to have your debts paid off?xr724 said:Is anyone aware if there are charities involved in writing off debt in the UK, in the way Martin Sheen helped the people of Port Talbot over the last 2 years? If I were to have a sum of money to help pay off the debts of others, which charity / charities could help me in the same manner as Michael Sheen? Are there any such (debt consolidation) charities?0

From a quick Google, it looks like Martin created a debt company, bought the debts off other debt companies and wrote off the debts. You could do the same? You could contact a debt collection agency and try to give them money to pay off people's debts, but without knowing the people's account details already, I can't see how that would work, they wouldn't be set up to take money and give it to random people.
Or you could donate to one of the debt charities maybe - it wouldn't pay anyone's debts, but fund the charities helping people in debt.
Alternatively, donating to the CAB is a good way to help people in need. Or any charity really.
