I am feeling very stuck and not sure where to go at the moment. I have racked up £10,000 -£12000 in credit card and over draft debt. I was using the cards to help pay for things whilst I have been working part time since have second child. We cannot afford the full time childcare. Yes we will get 30 free hours in September but that has to be stretched as its term time only and the nursery have put their costs up llus we will have to pag a consumeables charge now just for being at nursery of £19 a day. Child currently goes 3 times a week for 9.5 hours.
So my debt has been car repairs and life and now its caught up with me and I cannot make the repayments any more. For a short while I was able to pay them a bit back then use that money again to pay for the food or oil etc we needed. I have a partner. Hes not very good with money himself and has neurodiversities so not that much help to me with finances. We go half on everything. He earns nore but pays a bit more or nursery and gives a bit when he can but due to his own car issues hes now short of cash also. I just dont know where to turn.
I dont have enough to cover finances myself.
I tried stepchange and it said i was short £400. A month then kept glitching so I never got the advice.
I tried national debt helpline and tbey took my partners income into account so that said we had £600 to use to pay. But we dont. We dont work like that, he wont give me extra £600 to pay offcredit cards. Never going to happen. I never see his finances and he never wants to see mine.
So i was hoping for dro but they now say dmp but I dont have any money spare?
I have learnt i have inherited shares in a company but its just come out of a cva so they have no value yet but they may do in a year so that might get taken into account?
Im just really lost. I dont feel I have anyone to help me with advice. Anyone able to offer any advice please

I think you need to stop paying those nonpriority debts and start to bank where you do not have debts. The overdraft just becomes another debt.
I can see that getting a DRO may be a problem if your partner is not paying a pro-rata share of expenses, and valuing yiur shares may be tricky.
Plan to start a dmp in 3-6 months and use that time to build an emergency fund0 -

I also read that people wait for a default and then arrange with a collection agency?0 -
Its all unsecured, non priority debt, in the bigger picture, its just not important to anyone.
The collection process takes quite a long time, many months in most cases, where nothing happens but the odd call or letter, once defaulted, you can arrange to pay what you can afford, its all been done before, so no surprises here.
Don`t let it worry you, your rent/mortgage/food/council tax/and utilities are a higher priority than your credit debts.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards.
