Do you require a different 18 digit reference number for each voluntary contribution year you are paying for?

Thanks

You require a new reference for each payment you make be it for 1 year or several years.

    Thank you.
  • I have received a reply from HMRC regarding my submitted CF 83 application form.  The HMRC letter contains a number which is a mix of letters and numbers and has 2 hyphens and is a total of 18 digits minus the hyphens.  I have assumed this is the number to quote when making an online payment but the letter also states that as I am an o reseals customer I must use my National Insurance number as the reference.  However whilst the payments relate to my period abroad I have been UK resident since 2023 so am now confused as to which reference number to use .  Any suggestions/guidance much appreciated.  Thanks
