Self Assessment refund not yet received

Options
Just before Christmas I completed my return for the last tax year and it calculated a modest refund of around £250.

My recollection of previously completing my returns is that bank account details were requested as part of the return but this time around it invited you to apply after submitting which I duly did.

With nothing forthcoming at the beginning of February I applied again thinking perhaps I had made an error in the process but still not a sausage.

On submitting the refund request it stated a wait of two weeks was possible which has long passed, do I keep waiting possibly in vain?

If you log in to your account, you should be able to see your record of payments made and credits received.
Does your refund appear there? If so, you can request a repayment.

My account shows the refund available but twice I have gone through the process of claiming it but nothing has appeared in my nominated bank account

My refund took over a year to arrive (at least they paid interest on it)!

    That is not encouraging

I guess the interest is then taxed?

I got my interest this week, and asked, and am assured it’s not.

It is pointless repeating that time after time.

Your refund may be caught by this activity.

You would be better off calling HMRC and getting to the root cause of the issue.

I’d assumed it was user error the first time around but having seemingly ruled that out thought I’d ask here rather than repeating to no obvious effect
