Compers attitudes

Has the world of compers always been so nasty? I only started entering a few competitions on social media last year. I joined a few groups.

This sounds like a bunch of pathetic newbies who have heard about all the supposed riches up for grabs, and wanting to get their piece of the action one way or another!
Hardened Compers - by that I mean people who have been doing it every day for many many years - just get on with it. Entering as many as we can; being pleased with the wins when we get them, and riding out the dry times when we don't.
And no, true Compers are not a nasty bunch. Think about what this Forum is based on: people who give up their time to post all these competitions they find so that the rest of us can enter. And the people who buy puzzle mags and work out all the puzzles - and then post the answers for the rest of us to enter! They are astonishingly generous, and I am always grateful.
So if I were you, I would stay away from these social media groups - that is NOT what the world of comping is about.16 -
The original post on this thread seems to have been edited and a lot of what I was referring to in my reply above has been deleted.
So my post above probably doesn't make much sense to anyone reading it now. Ho hum.7 -
