Anyone else noticed this (on Android)?

I asked customer support and they confirmed that the function had been removed and suggested to star important receipts instead (which isn't a suitable replacement function).
I found digital receipts very useful to store and search for returns (rather than hunting through a pile of paper receipts), and even to pull up a price when folks queried how much cheaper Lidl was for specific things!

What an oddly regressive step for Lidl. I guess if no one complains then it'll be lost.

    I said search, not view.
  • Yep. I just discovered this. If I make a large purchase (I've probably spent £500-£1K on large pricetag electricals in the past year or two. Stuff like TVs, a plasma cutter, most recently a band saw) I'll file the paper receipt away in a little box I keep in the kitchen, otherwise I've simply searched digital receipts in the app for stuff, like the £15 aromatherapy diffuser that screwed up twice -the plastic doesn't withstand essential oils as it should !
How TF am I supposed to find such stuff that I e purchase within the last 12 months (they have a 12 month non food faulty good return to store policy) when I often visit Lidl 4 or 5 times a week.
I think what I'm going to do, and I SUGGEST EVERYONE ELSE DOES THE SAME AS IT MAY FOR E THEIR HAND, is to issue a subject access request (SAR) under DPA / GDPR asking for copies of all receipts. If every one of their App users does the same I've a feeling that they'll soon see the error of their ways rather than have to manually process and respond to each of the requests 😉

Great idea - done! (My receipts go back to Sep '20)
Also need to find a retail journo to take this case up.

Update - Lidl firstly sent a request for photo ID to their data protection dept. in order to progress the request (which I'm yet to send them). Then they called me to ask what timescale I wished. It turns out they meant which time period over which the receipts covered. I said all of them, and they said they'd have to check with IT, to which I said that I could answer that for them i.e. the first receipt I can see is Sept '2020. They then asked if I want only non-food items, to which I replied no since I found it very useful to compare price variances of any item over time, and explained that it was purely becasue they had removed the receipt search facility with no notice. They sounded distinctly unsure about whether they could satisfy my request.
Anyone else had a similar experience?

Very much doubt it as the vast majority are not going to be studying their last 5 years spending habits at Lidl.

However one intends to use the data is not relevant here - it's that Lidl have to comply with GDPR regulations in terms of fulfilling a Subject Access Request for personal data that they hold.

Yes they do but they do not have to provide a 'search' facility on the app which is what prompted your complaint.
