Sort by closing date disappeared - help!

Hi all, bit of a mystery so I'd very much appreciate some help! I usually sort competitions by closing date, and did so yesterday. Today when I went to do the same, the option has completely disappeared. Now the only options are 'hot', 'top' and 'new' (see below). Does anyone know how I can fix this? Would really appreciate it as it's my preferred method of entering competitions.
On a separate note, not sure what the difference would be between 'hot' and 'top'!

Same here. Have been using "sort by date order" for many years so why has it been taken away? If it is a fault I hope it is fixed soon.2

I'm in the same boat, sort by closing date has disappeared, it was such a convenient feature, MSE please bring it back!1
