Still issues accessing my Government Gateway

I can still receive the access code via my land line phone number. But at some point my land line will no longer work. I can also sometimes access the code number via my HMRC app. When it works the login screen covers the whole of my iPad tablet screen. When I choose the app option I get a small box at the top of my tablet screen which when I touch on it opens a full screen with the access number. Which I can copy and paste to the other screen and access the account. However more often than not I get a small screen within my tablet screen which you can see on this screenshot. When I choose the app for the code no small box which you press on appears. And so you don’t get any access code. You can’t enlarge the main screen and if you close it you cancel the access. How can I get the app to open a full screen and get it to work! Also when it does work and I choose the 7 day access it often wants me to login again with a new access code later the same day! Most frustrating!

Why are you using web access, why not use the app ? The app just sits over the web and can be used as different access point instead of that page.0

OK, just logged out and can see that screen now, such a long time since I had to log in, usually just use PIN or fingerprint. With my Android I just touched the access code and it put me straight in, sort of "do you want to use this code", no faffing actually entering it.0

When I get that screen as above and go onto the chose method of access screen it gives me the land line number and the app option. If I choose the app option nothing happens. If however I have got the above screen as a full screen them I do get a small box at the top of it that when touched on gives me the access code. What I can’t work out is how to get the app to open that screen fully and not in the box as above.0

Can you not change the landline number to mobile?
I’ve got 2 mobile numbers set up that text me access codes. (One as backup)I only access the site once or twice a year so quite happy to keep using the web version. Also wouldn’t fancy doing my tax return without a PC keyboard.0 -

Every time your phone or the app updates it requires a new ‘full’ login. That’s normal security policy. There is a point where if you don’t have a smart phone, or a Govt recognised form of ID, you may become digitally excluded. Is the cost prohibitive?Fashion on the Ration
