Between 'Buy In' and 'Buy Out' stage....

Belated update.
Yes, there was/is a Portal, but having looked at it with the deferred member, it proved to be as useless as a chocolate teapot. Apparently, because of the 'buy-in' situation (and yes, as of today it still has not progressed to 'buy-out'), the administrators have not updated figures for a few years and have removed the ability to make any use of in-built tools for calculating expected pension amounts etc.
On a positive note, following my involvement and backed up with encouragement from earlier replies on this thread, the deferred member once again asked the administrator for sight of the 2024 Tri-ennial statement, reminding them that it had previously been stated by Trustees that " your Deferred Pension Statement will continue to be issued at the Scheme's Triennial Valuation i.e. every three year's.", and it was eventually, if somewhat grudgingly, provided to the deferred member.

Not at all uncommon for there to be a gap of several years between 'buy in' and full 'buy out'. Indeed, it's often the case that the buy in doesn't cover all the liabilities initially. In some cases the scheme may remain in buy in phase indefinitely…
