I have had a reply:
I have replied to them and said if I am not authorised on the account, they should not have accepted a payment from a credit card in my name.Hello,
Thank you for getting in contact with us here at Opos Limited and making us aware of this.
Unfortunately, I will be unable to discuss the matter with you as you not authorised on the account. We are still able to note what you have told us on the account where the rightful account holder and our client will be able to see it, but we cannot action the account in accordance with this information.
If you wish to manage the account on behalf of the account holder, please provide us with a signed letter of authority or proof of power of attorney and we can update our records. Alternatively, please have the account holder contact us directly to authorise yourself on the account.
Thank you for your cooperation, and we look forward to resolving this issue promptly.
Kind regards,
Alexander

Not being able to authorised on an account (IE to have access to details that are the privilege of the authorised person) doesn't prevent you paying money into it.kraven_t_punter said:I have had a reply:

Yes you're right, and they have replied again and refused to refund based on the fact that I'm not the account holder.
I'm guessing as I can't dispute the payment to Opos (without coming clean to my wife) due to not being the account holder, I wouldn't even be able to dispute this with my credit card provider?
Looks like I'll probably just have to suck this one up.0 -
I'm not sure what grounds you could dispute the payment on, given that you willingly paid it, and she'd have to be involved with any complaint. A lesson learnt maybe.0
