HMRC…married persons tax allowance

I am the non- taxpayer and my OH is the taxpayer.  Unfortunately he didn’t watch your video and he applied for the tax allowance transfer 🤦‍♀️.  However, instead of disallowing it or, ‘it not working’ they have transferred his tax allowance to me.  I believe he has put a stop on it for the next financial year but not this.  Is there anything I can do about this?  I am going to try and apply now to give him my tax allowance which I am hoping will cancel out his claim.  The whole situation is a bit o a mess

Try phoning HMRC ( best time is as soon as lines open)  and explain and ask if you can refuse/ reject the transfer of the allowance.

Or try the online assistant by repeating you ‘want to speak to an adviser’ to get put on to an adviser. The online assistant will not be able to help you.
