Good morning, thanks for starting Gers.
It seems to have rained overnight here.
It was good to see you posting Marie, but I was sorry to see that life is tough for you, keep posting when you can though.
Glad your car got through MOT Gers, hope yours does likewise Ruby.
Hope you had a nice lunch out yesterday TA.
Nice to see you back Carolbee, hope you enjoyed your holiday.
I'm going to do a big shop today, I don't need to do big shops as often as I used to fortunately. Might go to Al*i, there's one in our little town.
We booked a little holiday for ourselves yesterday, 4 days in a holiday flat in Whitby on the N Yorks coast, going on Monday. The last 3 months have been a bit difficult so it'll be a nice change. It's not that far to travel either.
That's about it really - wishing everyone a happy Friday, and thoughts to the sad and poorly.11 -
@Scarlet - Whitby is lovely, I'm sure you'll really enjoy it and the peace and quiet. You deserve the wee break.@TA - have we missed your birthday? We used to have loads in February and early March but the site no longer shows that information.Once I was dressed I spent a bit longer upstairs trying on the hanging clothes, most of which I've hardly worn since retiring and don't really need anymore. Now I have brought downstairs four jackets (two winter ones, one dress one and one woollen one) which I'll take to the dry cleaners today as they smell musty. One winter one is FAR too big for me now
, the other one is my favourite and fits me so its fate is in the balance, as is the same for the other two. One part of me can't bear to part with them whilst another part says 'get rid'. We'll see.
Yesterday was a particularly difficult day, I don't have many of these anymore so it made up for a mostly peaceful life of late. In the morning I started to feel decidedly weird and sort of empty and almost nauseous - most strange. After something to eat I began to feel much better but by then it was past the time for my pool class, just as well as I wouldn't have managed it. So, I settled down to complete the set up of banking apps on my phone. Three gave me huge trouble and two still not sorted. A rep of one of them is calling me this morning and two other reps spent ages on the phone with me, one is fixed and the other is not-fixable.In amongst all this I decided to tackle the disposal of the contents of a very large box which has been 'resting' on one of my sofas for well over a year, my ignoring it was annoying me. As the contents were all bottles of soup this took some time and then cutting up the big box added to it. To add to the chaos a delivery of a huge amount of meat arrived - a belated birthday present from one nephew. I wanted to open the box to check that all was still fresh as deliveries here take extra time - the lovely driver helped me the task which opened up a very small cut on my finger from the day before. More chaos, this time accompanied by dripping blood.Almost funny! Finger dealt with, meat stashed and another big box cut up and in the boot of the car.
I was so fraught that bed was a blessing. It's been years since I felt like it and I hope that I won't feel like it again.Today will be calm. I'll take away the cardboard at some point though I may well wait until tomorrow.I wish everyone a serene day - @Marie - you're not moaning at all, it's called sharing. Take care of yourself and OH. Hugs to all.12 -

Morning folks and thanks GERS. Enjoy your little trip SCARLET. A bit of a change in the weather this morning, the sunshine of the past few days has gone and we are back to grey and drabness. But they say the sun will be back for the w/e.
DF and I enjoyed a really lovely lunch yesterday at the little new to us Italian place but, there is always a but isn't there, it was really noisy and we could barely each other speak. Why do people have to talk so loudly! Maybe we just chose a bad day and will try it again next week as the food really was nice.
I gave the new Bergerac another go last night and I found it less mumbly this time, but I had the subtitles on anyway just in case! It was spoilt though by all the long ad breaks. I shall record it next week and fast forward them. Before watching that I joined YL on the Riverbank! As we are on the doorstep of the Wharfe all the places they filmed at are so familiar to me. I was taken to many of them by my parents when I was a child, then took our own kids when they were younger, then later where we took our DGDs when they were littlies. It brought back so many fond memories.
Well the Friday Tidy awaits so the sooner I start the sooner I will finish then a slothful afternoon will follow methinks. Have a lovely day if you can folks and ((HUGS)) for our poorlies, sad or lonely. MEANMARIE lovely to see another post from you, offload your worries as much as you need to as life sounds tough for you just now.. Take care all, stay safe xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"13 -
Sorry GERS we were cross posting. I hope today is a better day. I have those sort of days so know how you must have felt. And no you haven't missed my bday, it's next Wednesday! Not a lot to celebrate at my age and next year (if I make it that long) will be even worse as I shall be an octogenarian!! Eeek where have all the years gone!"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"12

Morning all
Lovely bright sunny day today and it’s my Birthday 😃 I think TA has hers about a week or so after mine, we were off for lunch in a lovely pub but I forgot I have my nail appointment late morning which will clash so we are going to get a takeaway tonight instead we can do lunch in the pub another day, presents will be done this evening 😬
I bought some lovely pots of primroses yesterday three pots with three plants in each pot for £10 which I thought was a good buy, I need to get into the garden and jet wash the patio then I can start planting things, I also bought some bulbs a couple of peony and some others, I’m going to order the new table and pergola today so we will be all ready for summer.
My car sailed through the mot nothing needed doing and no advisories so that’s done for another year.
Robs skin was looking better already yesterday so I’m hoping to see a vast improvement by Monday after several days of meds.
Dogs to be walked later and then a relaxing hot bath which is one of my favourite things to do.
Have good days all and take care xx10 -
Morning all,it's raining, heavy during the night at one point, which unsettled the pooch, pacing about so not a great deal of sleep was had. She's snoring away now- typical! Gers, that sounds like a big meat delivery, nice of the driver to help.I have to have a good tidy today in readiness for DB & SiL coming for a meal tomorrow. My other DB has sent some lovely pics of their trip to Italy.DGS enjoyed worldbook day , said they had fun@MeanMarie , that sounds like an awful year you and DH have had. I'm glad you have a bit of respite care for your class.@TravellingAbuela, glad you enjoyed the Italian, I find it noisy if places have wooden or tiled floors. I'd better join you in the Friday tidy after another cuppa.Hope you all have a good day.:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. Morning everyone and 'thank you' for starting us off Gers.
The morning started off really sunny, but it's gone dull now. I may go for a walk later.
Hope everyone has a good weekend. x8 -
Happy Birthday REDRUBY. Have a good one with lots of wine and cake! X

Morning all, thanks for the start Gers. I can't believe it's Friday again - I'm not at all sure where this week has gone We're back to normal with the weather - still mild but dull, grey and wet. Unlike yesterday when I went out without a coat! And dispensed with the heating for a good part of the day too.
Usual weekly Co-op trip yesterday including a treat-to-me of some daffs for the kitchen, then on to The Little Free Library. One book returned and one borrowed. Yes, I know I said I wouldn't borrow any more but ... well, you know how it is.The rest of the day was spent just pottering around doing odd jobs. Today will be very similar apart from the usual Friday admin, banking etc. DS should be popping in at some stage too. Tea tonight will be a piece of fresh cod
@mehefin - A barrow load of poo might be a somewhat unusual present but so useful. Very thoughtful.
@Scarlet - Enjoy Whitby. It's a lovely place and I hope the sun comes out for you while you're there.
@Gers - Oh dear, what an awful day you had yesterday. Fingers crossed today will be less fraught!
@mm - As has been said before, you're going through a really tough time and you're not whinging, just sharing. Something we all need to do sometimes. I know it's kept me sane over the last few months since losing DH.
@TA - I gave the new Bergerac another try last night but had to admit defeat after a while, I just couldn't get invested in any of the characters. But definitely yes to the Riverbank! So many lovely villages and beautiful scenery that are familiar to me too.
@Ruby - Happy birthday, I hope you have a lovely day.
Right, it's porridge time (with fruit) then I'll crack on. I wish everyone a peaceful weekend, hopefully the sun will be back for a couple of days. Take care. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.9
