Should I wait to increase pension contributions?

I’m in a lucky position to be able to increase my contributions and also pay in a lump sum towards my company pension, but I have noticed in the last month that the pot has taken a dramatic fall.

Should I hang fire?

I am about 6 years away from retirement age, if that affects anything.

Thank you.

If your pot has fallen then that is because the underlying investments are worth less and would be cheaper to buy, often a good time to top up.

Depends on the underlying funds in which you're invested. If you are in unitised funds, then the cost per unit will be cheaper and you'll get more units for your money.
Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!

It is March, so a good time before it's too late to maximise your allowances (pension, ISA, etc ). Also timing the market doesn't work in most cases, so you have the opportunity now to buy cheaper units.

    hang fire until when?

Investments are about 3% cheaper to buy than a month or so ago.    Are you suggesting you want to wait until they have gone back up and become more expensive before buying more?

If you were shopping at Tesco and an item would cost you £1 today or £1.20 from tomorrow, would you wait until tomorrow to pay more for it?

If the product is past it's sell by date might fall even further in price until it reaches a price that someone is prepared to buy it at.
