Calculation used by gov.uk

My daughter is trying to get some payments towards 2 sons maintenance from ex partner. He is offering 50% of food costs ( not sure how you work out their food seperate to hers) or indeed if occasions when others ‘feed ‘ them count in or out. He is also offering 50% of clothing & school dinners money. To my mind this excludes all other costs such as utilities, holidays, social ( presents for friends etc) & other ad hoc costs.
Currently the boys prefer not to stay with their Dad. Both parents have a good income but the ex does not share info on his so the calculation used on the website is a guess.
1. does anyone know the calculation used on gov.uk ?

Your daughter need to submit a claim via CMS, they will get in contact with the other child's parent, ask him for a declaration of how much he earns and verify that with HMRC as well. If he does not reply then they can go via his employer, courts etc. The issue with CMS is that they take a cut, they charge both the recipient (4%) and payer (20%). Due to that it may make more sense for your daughter to try and negotiate but with CMS as a last resort.2muchfun said:My daughter is trying to get some payments towards 2 sons maintenance from ex partner.
