Talktalk bill boguth by JC International Acquisition LLC

I have had a bill bought by JC IA.LLC, which went straight to your account, has been passed on to our legal team.
However, I have the original TalkTalk Agreement number and account number.
The situation is they've made an offer of £127.30 or two months at £65.
the problem I have is when I changed over from TalkTalk, my £20 bill jumped to over £300.
What turned out (even by their own admission that they sent in text) long gone am afraid is that they were charging me £8.99 a month for Netflix, that they openly and brazenly admitted they had never paid Netflix and had no intention of doing so.
In their words, "you've been paying for Netflix, but we haven't and although the money you gave us belonged to you, once we had it, it belonged to us, and that's Netflix's problem.
I explained this was illegal and he simply said no, it's not, you give us money and it's up to us to use it to do what we want with it. When I said, but that means I haven't been able to use Netflix (using my son's without knowing), they said, then complain to Netflix that they haven't been giving you service. I told them the service comes from them paying Netflix with the money I gave them, and once again he said "no, no, no, you don't know how it works. You give us money and we keep the money and if Netflix don't give you their service it's them that are stealing"
We take your money, do what we want with it because it is now our money, and if you don't get services, that's up to you to pay or for them to help because the money is now ours."
I made a big Trustpilot review and they even sent the conversation as a downloadable transcript.
I could get rid of the debt in two payments, but that means they stole over £300 from me, now they are using a debt collection agency to steal another £127. So the principal is the steel, my money. They told me to my face what they were doing. Now I want over £400 just so I don't get a CCJ?
What do I do? Swallow pride or refute blatant thieves who I owed £20 fro getting over £400?

JCI now own the debt. They are not a debt collector.

They do start court claims so you may have an opportunity to state your case and let a judge decide. I definitely would not pay them anything at this stage.

You don't say when the contract was terminated but I assume it was less than six years ago

Yes, my last account was in 2022. I ended it abruptly when I was told the hundreds I'd paid to Netflix was their problem. And as far as they were concerned, taking months and months of £8.99 meant they were much better off, but they were never paying me back.
"You gave us the money and we would have paid Netflix if they would have asked, but they didn't. So now it's ours.
I said "No, I paid the money and you kept it so the money is mine!"
He said, that was in your bill, but it didn't say if we never paid Netflix and you never got what you paid for that you had the right to get it back. And you said earlier that I was a thief for taking your money and keeping it for myself. That's illegal but I'll not take you to court if you stop accusing me of being a thief
You know, I kept that email for just over two years and only recently deleted it.
I do have many transcripts where similar things were said, including downright admittanceof theft.

Talk Talk have a reputation for abysmal customer service, I am one of their customers, and the only reason I stay with them is because the broadband actually works very well where I live, and is excellent value for the price.

They do fall down when certain issues arise though, having call centres outsourced to Mumbai on another continent doesn't help, anyway, I digress.

I would not worry about JCI, if you get a court claim, use what you have said as a defence.

To try to avoid that happening, you could put it all in a letter to them, explaining why you won`t be paying.

They may take no notice, or they may just write back and say they will no longer pursue this account, for the cost of a stamp its worth a punt.

I had to deal with TalkTalk when I was dealing with a deceased relative and agree they are useless.

I am sure a lot of the 'debts' they sell on have no basis in reality and anyone who buys them would find it difficult to get them through court if the customer defended the claim.

And that's probably why we don't see many claims
