So I am awaiting a dbs the local authorities has come to me saying they are asking on my police check if I no people or associates of mine so I have obviously said who I no and don’t what is this for. As I thought the dbs was about me  tia

It's really hard to understand what you are actually asking. 

DBS checks look for any convictions, cautions etc... that YOU have. Nothing to do with other people.

Or are you saying you have a link to other people who have a criminal record and they are looking into this e.g. you were named in an incident?

If this is an enhanced disclosure, there is a box for the police to state any other information they might hold about the person, is it possible that you are known to the police as an associate of someone the police have an interest in?
