eBay Sales

in Cutting tax
I have a large Vinyl/CD collection, which I have been collecting for some 25+ years, that I am slowly selling. Over the last 14 months I have sold around 100 individual items on eBay, receiving a round £4000, which includes postage and packing costs.
My question is, am I required to pay tax on the £4000, or are Vinyl/CD's classed as 'chattel'?
Obviously I don't have receipts for Vinyl/CD's I bought 20 odd years ago.

doubtless some are selling for more than you paid for them, but you are correct that this is sale of personal possessions, not a taxable income from deliberate trading (buying with a view only to sell )
you are also not subject to CGT because no one record is worth more than £6,000 on its own and although you use the word collection, I very much doubt that these would be treated as a single collection of records (and anyway still not over the £6k threshold for CGT)1
