Ambassador applications for 2025 are now closed.
Hi all
You probably know some of our Forum Ambassadors - the helpful, vital volunteers who help us keep the MSE Forum a safe and supportive space for Forumites to discuss MoneySaving matters.
The Ambassadors programme runs one year at a time. Applications are now open for this year (March 2025 - March 2026).
These are volunteer positions, but annual expenses will be paid. Here's what you can expect:
What we'll provide:
- An induction and training video call
- Your account changed to an 'Ambassador' account
- Annual expenses
What we'd like from you:
- Look after your assigned boards
- Direct Forumites to threads, articles, guides and tools from across the Forum as well as from MoneySavingExpert.com
- Look out for regular announcements and 'Forum Challenges' from the MSE Forum Team
Want to test your MSE Forum rules knowledge before applying?
We've put together a short quiz. It's completely anonymous - we won't be able to see your results:

Don't worry, won't be applying; I know we have exceptionally different views on a number of matters. Was however curious what an "annual expense" is? Literally a once a year payment? £2.50 a month to cover some electricity or £2,500 a year to cover a new Macbook Pro?MSE_JC said:These are volunteer positions, but annual expenses will be paid. Yearly payment towards your broadband costs or whatever you use it for
The clue is in the word "volunteer" it's not a paid post.
I used to donate mine when a board guide/ ambassador because I did it for many years before the expense was introducedEx forum ambassador

Realise that is a volunteer role and was also clear that not applying but its unclear if we are talking MP level of expenses or something very token. I mean we are talking about company making £132m EBITA profit last year not a charity.Browntoa said:Yearly payment towards your broadband costs or whatever you use it for

Is that an issue - I don't know the extent to which forum ambassadors are expected to toe the party line and to be seen as representing the organisation?DullGreyGuy said:

Doesn't look good when I'm banned for the occasional fortnighteskbanker said:

Indeed. It's a shame that they haven't reached a point yet where they're able to pay all of their staff.DullGreyGuy said:

They are able to pay all of their staff but seek volunteer assistance on the forums (alongside the paid employees), which after all are free to use.jim1999 said:

Nowhere near the latter when I was a Board Guide, of course things might have changed since then ... but I'm sure MSE would have half an eye on HMRC's view on the level of expenses which don't have to be declared for tax purposes.DullGreyGuy said:
