Closed accounts in my credit reports have old address - should I update these?

Hello,
I'll be applying for a mortgage in a few months. I am going through my credit reports and I noticed that I have a few closed accounts (old credit cards, closed current accounts etc) which have my old addresses on, where I lived at the time of having those accounts. Do I need to update these closed accounts to my current address? It feels a bit ludicrous / overkill, but I don't want to risk having a mortgage declined. I have updated all the addresses on my open accounts - it's the closed accounts I'm not sure about.

I would greatly appreciate any advice.

no need. The report shows your address history so everything will be correct as it is
  • I wouldn’t personally see the need to.

How long ago did you live at these addresses? If it was in the last few years you’re usually required to provide the other addresses during the application process (same goes for any credit).

I wouldn’t worry myself. They’re on your credit report so I’d assume lenders can see these. It’s natural for people to move and not update old/closed accounts.

Good luck when you get round to applying! We’re just going through the process now as FTB - this forum has been brilliant for gaining knowledge (even if it’s just searching old threads!)
