Looking for Ideas: How to Make Money from Inherited Land

Hey everyone,

I've recently inherited 2 acres of land. It's a field with a nice view, and while selling it is one option, I'm reluctant to go down that route just to see houses built on it.

Right now, I get about £50 per month from someone who keeps two horses on the land, but I feel like there might be other ways to make the land work for me and generate income.

I’m interested in exploring options beyond selling or having it developed. Has anyone had success with ways to make money from land? I’d love to hear any ideas you have!

Thanks in advance!

Using it for secure dog walking/exercise may be a good idea? It is quite popular these days. I have no experience of this though.

Person near me spent a bit up front making the field dog secure

They make a fair bit doing hourly slots where the dogs can go off lead

They also do weekend training camps and socialising with other dogs events

If it is agricultural land, you may need planning permission to change the usage as "dog walking" is not agricultural and pp isn't always given.

There are some camping websites where you can list your land for people with tents looking for quiet private place?
Depending on what the land allows on you could put some unique building on wheels and rent.. but I guess that depends on location if there is any demand.

I was about to suggest the same.  I know friends with nervous dogs who want a place to walk their pooches in peace.  I also drive by a place most days where there's a dog group of some sort - socialising or mixed pooch walk or doggy dog sitting?  Some things will need someone on site so that might limit you.

There's a trend for allotments at the moment, but a severe shortage of council-owned ones in a lot of locations.

I know of at least three private allotment providers in my area (West Cornwall) who all charge for a selection of different sizes. You would get a lot of allotments on two acres!
