Delayed start date (NHS)

Options
I’ve been successful in a post & had informal discussions re start date & getting my current employer (also nhs, different trust) to waive my notice period (3months). I have done all of this & was ready for my start date (thinking April so 4weeks away) and they have said June so all new starter can start together. I’m frustrated as my current employer is in a really difficult place & I was led to believe I would be given a start date pretty quickly.
Excuses given where around funding not being in place yet & all new starters starting together etc etc.
My question is, is there any come back re the 3-4month wait from appointment to starting? Its leaving me in a difficult situation, I have turned down other roles for this.

    No come back  at all.
You say the discussion you had about start date were informal ones and (not that it would make any difference) you haven’t suffered with any financial loss.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

The OP has not said they haven't suffered any financial loss.  If their current employer says they accepted reduced notice and they are holding the OP to that, the OP could lose a couple of months pay.

What has your current employer actually said about your end date with them?
Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!

What’s the actual issue with having to wait an extra 8 weeks to start ?

Is it that your current employer is holding you to your end date as indicated when you officially handed in your notice and therefore leaving you without employment for that period - or something else ?

Either way - unless you had an April start date agreed in a document/contract, then I can’t see you have any comeback.

Thats why it’s typically advised to get a signed contract/start date BEFORE handing your notice in

But based on an informal conversation, so I’m still not sure what redress you think they have
