I have set up an account not linked to any debts. My salary for this month will go into my old account. Can I just transfer it to my new account and cancel my debt direct debits, or should I wait until next month?
Thanks for any advice

Do not switch, you need to manually set up each DD for housing, CT, utilities, media etc.
One of the other posters here switched and then cancelled DDs. They've been fighting a rear guard action since. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
I cancelled all the direct debits related to my debts 10 days before the switch, including four with NatWest (which was my current account and also mortgage provider), and stupidly used the switching service and thought it would just pull the live DD’s I’d left for my priority direct debits. I was left with a constant battle of daily calls to my new bank to cancel all NW direct debits, (including my mortgage in the end), because every day for about ten days I’d cancel the NW direct debits and every day more DD’s would appear on my new bank. Two of the loan payments were taken out, and I had to contact my new bank to recall the payment. It was so stressful! They said my only option was for me to put a block on NW completely as they couldn’t stop them sending DD requests. I did that and set up a standing order for my mortgage. So, transfer your wages immediately they arrive in your old bank, then manually set up new direct debits as @RAS says! 🙏1

Thank you. I was nervous about switching thanks to tales from here! But I’m guessing this sounds silly, but I was nervous if I make a transfer from old account to this old be they’ll ‘have’ my new details. I was going to manually move everything1
