National Insurance Contributions - Future Pension Centre

Hi all,

I have been calling the Future Pension Centre multiple times every single day over the last 10 days but every option ends the call without speaking with someone.  I am dialling  0800 731 0175.

Background.

I worked overseas from 2011 - 2020 in Australia.  I am 56 and want to purchase a few missing years of Class 2 contributions.  I logged in to my HMRC account and can see all my missing years whilst I was in Australia.

I answered all the questions to make an online payment and because I ticked I have been working overseas I needed to speak with someone in the FPC and they could assist.

Not one option out of the 5 to choose from actually puts you through to a human and after giving you details of referring to online references ends the call.

I have raised an online complaint about this but as I am due to fly overseas again in three weeks and will miss the 5th April deadline has anyone any advice or another number to contact.

HMRC service really isn't fit for purpose.

Thank you

The service is indeed in meltdown. I did manage to speak with them just before Christmas, but all they said was that they would write to me within a week and of course the letter never came. I contacted my MP, who has raised the matter with their complaints team, but still no joy.

I suggest that you write to the MP who represents your last permanent address in the UK (and explain the address situation since they can only help people who live in their constituency) and ask for assistance. At a bare minimum, ask that the 5 April deadline be extended until you have received an answer to give you a reasonable opportunity to pay.

That is doubtless true in some instances but I don't think you can blame HMRC for Future Pension Centre failings!

    Thanks all,

Just to clarify I do now live in the UK and have since 2020 so the CF83 form is not applicable.  I did ask the HMRC about this and they told me the form is only if I was still living overseas.

The CF83 is also applicable if you want to be able to pay Class 2 for the periods you were abroad. I’d fill it in online now or you will miss out on being able to pay for those earlier years.

You've had several years warning of the impending deadline. Not really a surprise that the FPC is totally overwhelmed by the latecomers to the party, but maybe if some of them had taken action earlier...this deadline isn't news.
Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!
