As I understand it is best to go for one with Freeview and Hard Drive if you can afford it. We have ordered the Panasonic DMR EX77EB from Dixons for £199.99 free delivery. HTHNothing is so fatiguing as the eternal hanging on of an uncompleted task. William James0

Well I am a technophobe but according to my dh you need one with freeview if you want to record a prog on freeview without having to watch it at the same time IYSWIM . Don't know about Cable maybe ask on the Techie forum ?Nothing is so fatiguing as the eternal hanging on of an uncompleted task. William James0

I am looking for one of these too. I am thinking of going for one of the ones with twin tuner as it means you can record a digital channel whilst watching another. At moment I can only record a digital channel that I am watching or leave it on with no sound which is a bit daft, no point recording it if you have to watch it!!If practice makes perfect, and nobody is perfect....................................

We've just been thinking about this too and we kind of came to the conclusion that we'd probably buy a computer to link to the tv instead so that we can use the hard drive on that and get tv from the computer. I know it's a little more expensive but I think that's best for us. I haven't looked into it too much yet but it's a thought.
