First plus charge on my land registry

Hi I am trying to get a remortgage but solicitor wants to know about a firstplus charge attached to land registry. I have no idea where this is from. Anyone advise me of who I can contact to find out?

What is the date the charge was applied? Is it from the previous owners not removing a charge on completion? If so, query with your solicitors. I think Carol Vorderman used to advertise them and encourage people to 'splash out a little'
They folded under huge negative publicity, aided by this site in its early days.
