Have you tried moving the visa debt to a cheaper rate.

Word of warning, be wary of balance transfer fees though, i usually calculate on a spreadsheet to find whether this is completely worthwhile.

    Italy, skiing :D - can't wait!

I need to get my euros though, usually go to M&S but will have to resist the sale rails!! Don't need many, breakfast and dinner included and lunch is usually a big bowl of pasta on the mountain :p

Nice I love proper Italian pasta dishes. I've never been skiing, I would probably hurt myself.

Have fun and enjoy all that free food!
    Current debt - £16,300 :(
    Debt at worst 17/03/2011 - £18,067.62:eek::eek:
:ANot going anywhere else, ever again :A

Yeah, i did apply for a couple of 0% cards last year but didn't get them. Applied for experian check through Quidco last night to see if i can work out why (i have never missed payments or anything).

Its something i should have done a long time ago - its doesn't seem worth it now as the debt will be gone in the next couple of months.

Thanks for the suggestion though
  • Hi FMOW,

looks good to me - are you going to put that spare £645.50 straight on your HSBC visa? Then it would be nearly gone.

Also £40/month for the gym is a bit expensive. If you want to stay at Virgin have you seen the suggestion from Martin elsewhere on the site re: getting health insurance with the Pru for about £20/month which includes gym membership? (Think Virgin is included in this)

    Keep up the good work.

    Lol.

Challenge: No bank loans and CC gets cleared every month.
Need to think about restarting the Grocery Challenges
Sealed Pot Challenge: Put change in and give to charity when full.

    Lol.

I'd love to pay the £600 straight off Visa - but this is the DFW bit i really struggle with. Last year it went in cycles of paying a big chunck off on payday and then using CC again by the end of the month. The debts did go down, but it was kind of dishearteneing and i don't think i actually learned to budget properly!

So this year (starting from 14th jan which is first payday) my plan is to take out £200 cash which then has to last me the whole month, including petrol, clothes, socialising etc.

I am also going to pay £80 / week off the credit card = £320 total. I figure that regular weekly payments will keep me focussed. On top of this i will pay all quidco / amazon / ebay earnings as soon as they hit my bank.

Then in theory i will have £150 left to make an extra payment to CC at the end of the month.

On top of loan payment already in SOA, this would make my debt payment
    £320+£150+£280 = £750  /month

Eugh, thats depressing, just think what i could do with all that money if it didnt have to go to various banks

Not at all - think of the progress. Its brilliant - you will feel great when HSBC stop eating your money with 21% interest! And by the time you come to saving instead of paying off debt you will have large chunks of money free every month to buy the really big things in life rather than the little things that eat away at our money!

    Keep it up.

    Lol.

  • Yeah, i guess you are right moneygypsy.

On a cheerier note, i sent off application form to AQA this lunch time. I checked and double checked the spelling so all fingers and toes crossed for me please!!
  • Evening all!

I'm back from my holidays in the snowy alps - it was ace! :p

Not been so good for the debt payments (well i havent been here to make any!) but had a fab time.

Best news i've come back to is that AQA accepted me yeeeeeeey :j :j :j

But then i accidently deleted the email so have had to email them to send it again! Do'h, i hope they don't retract their offer!

    How are we all?
