Does clover go bad?

I recently got a costco card, so in order to maximise savings, I bought a huge tub of Clover spread. I had some on toast today(just clover), the first slice was really nice but the second was awful! I looked on the tub- BB 15th December :eek:
It smells okay, so can I use it in a cake or just throw it away
