Empty chocolate boxes?

Well my OH adores one particular chocolate from Thorntons and to be honest neither of us like the others (were not into fancy chocolates).

So this year for xmas I bought him a few bags of his favourite, but I wanted to do something more special for Valentines day.

I see on the Thorntons site that they do customised boxes where I can fill it with anything I want, which I would fill with just the one type of chocolate.

The only thing is the boxes arnt that great, Id much prefer a fancy heart shaped type thing (Im being soppy!!).

So my questions are...

Does anyone know if Thorntons do different customised boxes closer to Valentines day?

Or..

Where can I get an empty chocolate box? Ive searched ebay and google, and am yet to find anything! I would happily fill one myself, but dont want to pay £20 - £30 for a nice box of chocolates only to empty it of chocolates (and probably give to my dad as hes the only one that likes them) and then re fill. And all the boxes my family / friends have got are christmassy. Which wont really work!!

So any ideas anyone?

Thorntons may do heart-shaped boxes for Valentines Day..... or look in the card shops for a box the right shape....When I was in my local Thorntons on 29/12, they were stocking up for Valentines Day then.
  • I would search for just a box rather than a chocolate box, you can fill with tissue paper if too roomy.

Not heart shaped but asda have some lovely luxury gift boxes in the sale, gold and ruby coloured, would be ideal with some scrunched up tissue paper in bottom. Think they had an xmas tag on but that would be easy to remove.
Last time I looked they were about £1.30 or so.

Thank you for your suggestions so far :) Was hoping to have the chocolate tray in the bottom aswell, but the tissue paper may be a suitable alternative.

They have some valentines day stuff on the website, but was hoping they may change the customised stuff aswell.

    Hi

I made these heart shaped chocs for my best friend for xmas.

I got lucky with the box - it was lying around the house - oiginally had pull bows in :)

I finished it off with ribbons :)

I just used a heart shaped silicone ice cube tray & filled with choc and then put different toppings on them.

Theres lots more ideas here :

Sometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...

Hope it's okay to show this website, it is in Japanese but it gives you a good idea of how to pretty up a heart shaped box using foam sheets, felt, ribbon and little tiny beads, it's so pretty I had to show you.

Such a simple idea too but very effective I thought.

Thanks for the link for customising the box!

And cheers for the chocolate links, but not going to make the chocolates as this is just for the 1 particular type of chocolate he ADORES (viennese truffles).

Id love to get my hands on a chocolate tray (what you find in the bottom of chocolate boxes) but I think this could be an impossibility.

I have just found this site which has the actual chocolate containers for 18p. They only hols 6 chocolates but you could easily cut them to fit your heart shaped box. They also stock a heart shaped cake tin which may be useful.
